The good news is that the
people who know you best, your family and friends, really want to help you. The
bad news is that many of them may have known you since you were a snot-nosed
brat and, as you well know, many of them still think of you that way – which
makes productive networking difficult.

Resume Writers - How To Choose A Professional Resume Writer
A resume is the
critical marketing tool for any job
search; it brands you, makes you visible to recruiters, and opens the doors of
opportunity. If it works, you work; if it doesn’t work, you don’t work. Quite
simply, it’s the most financially important document you will ever own.
- Requires an understanding of how recruitment and hiring strategies affect resumes
- Demands the clarity of objective analysis to decide how best to package the commercial commodity that is the professional you
- Insists on unique writing skills, because resumes abide by their own rules
When you’ve done the best you can and see that resume
writing is never going to be your strength, you begin to realize that with your
personal stability and professional future at stake, maybe you should think
about a professionally written resume.

When choosing a
professional resume writer, you should do it with care. I would suggest ask
about membership in professional associations and professional credentials,
because people who belong to professional associations are invariably more
committed to professional development and take the time to earn professional
credentials. These credentials are reasonable qualifiers of competence.
Here’s a
comprehensive list of resume writing credentials. I’ve followed this with
coaching and other related professional accreditations. The credentials that
apply to resume writing are in the first section. Don’t get impressed by
credentials, unless you know what they mean and see they actually relate to
resume writing.

What is the correct way to identify an employer on your resume if they have changed their name since you worked for them?
Whenever possible you should
identify employers name changes on your resume. From the standpoint of honesty
you need to give the name of the company you actually worked for. However, as one
of those companies is going to be more visible and because recruiters sometimes
search databases by company names, having both names can give you greater
visibility. Having both names listed will also help reference checkers locate
employment records.
